1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Red Umbrella believes everyone deserves equal access to information about their home and the services that improve it. We are committed to ensuring that redumbrellaservices.com is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability, technology, or circumstance — including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or other assistive technologies.
Accessibility isn’t a checkbox for us; it’s part of treating people the way we’d want to be treated. This statement explains the standards we follow, the tools we provide, the steps we take, and how to reach us if something isn’t working for you.
2. Conformance Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG is the internationally recognized standard for digital accessibility and is built around four core principles, often summarized as POUR:
- Perceivable — information and interface elements must be presentable in ways people can perceive (for example, text alternatives for images and sufficient color contrast).
- Operable — the interface must be usable by everyone, including with a keyboard alone, and must not require timing or motion that some users can’t manage.
- Understandable — content and operation must be clear and predictable.
- Robust — content must work reliably with current and future tools, including assistive technologies.
We treat WCAG 2.1 AA as our working benchmark and measure our improvements against it.
3. ADAWebPro Accessibility Partnership
Our accessibility toolbar and our ongoing accessibility maintenance are provided in partnership with ADAWebPro. The toolbar adds a robust set of adjustable accessibility features to every page of the Site, and because it is actively maintained and updated, the Site’s accessibility continues to improve over time — without requiring you to install anything or change your device settings.
4. Accessibility Toolbar Features
You can open the accessibility toolbar from the icon in the lower-left corner of any page. It puts a wide range of adjustments at your fingertips, grouped by need:
Visual adjustments
- Increase or decrease text size for easier reading
- High-contrast and dark themes, plus a full color-inversion mode
- Saturation controls (low or high) and color-blind filters for protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia
Reading aids
- A readable, dyslexia-friendly font option
- A reading guide bar and a reading mask / spotlight that dims everything but the line you’re on
- Adjustable line height, letter spacing, and word spacing
- Text-to-speech “Read Aloud” that reads page content to you
Navigation aids
- A page-structure navigator that lets you jump between headings
- Link highlighting that makes every link stand out
- An automatic skip-to-content link for keyboard and screen-reader users
Motor aids
- A larger, higher-visibility cursor
- Enlarged, easier-to-hit clickable targets
- Full keyboard operability throughout the toolbar
Cognitive aids
- A focus/reading mask that reduces on-screen distraction
- A “hide images” mode that replaces images with their text descriptions
- A form aid that enlarges input fields and clearly highlights errors
5. How to Use the Toolbar
Opening it
Click or tap the accessibility icon in the lower-left corner of any page to open the toolbar. Choose any combination of adjustments — they apply instantly.
Saving your preferences
Your selections are saved in your browser, so they stay in place as you move from page to page and when you return to the Site on the same device.
Resetting
Use the “Reset” control in the toolbar to clear all adjustments and return the page to its default appearance at once.
Language support
The toolbar automatically detects your page language and is available in English, Spanish, and French.
Hiding the button
If you don’t need the toolbar, you can hide its button; a link in the website footer lets you bring it back anytime.
6. Keyboard Shortcuts
The toolbar includes keyboard shortcuts so you can reach it quickly without a mouse:
- Alt + A — open or close the accessibility toolbar
- Alt + R — reset all accessibility settings
- ? — open the keyboard-shortcut help (where supported)
Throughout the toolbar, every control is reachable with the Tab key and can be activated with Enter or the Space bar, and a visible focus indicator shows where you are.
7. Site-Wide Accessibility Features
The toolbar is only part of our approach — we also build accessibility into the Site itself. That includes semantic HTML headings and landmark regions so assistive technology can navigate the structure; descriptive alternative text on images that convey meaning; clear, descriptive link text rather than “click here”; properly labeled and grouped form fields; visible keyboard-focus styles; a skip-to-content link; responsive layouts that work at different zoom levels and on mobile; and color combinations chosen to meet AA contrast where feasible.
8. Compatibility & Recommendations
We design and test the Site to work with current versions of the major browsers and assistive technologies.
Browsers
Recent versions of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge, on both desktop and mobile.
Screen readers
Common screen readers including NVDA and JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), and TalkBack (Android).
For the best experience, we recommend keeping your browser, operating system, and assistive technology updated to their latest versions, since older software may not support all accessibility features.
9. Known Limitations
We’re honest about the fact that no website is ever perfectly accessible at every moment. Some content may not yet fully meet our target standard — for example, certain third-party embeds (such as an interactive project map) or older downloadable documents may have gaps. We actively work to identify and remediate these issues. If you encounter a barrier anywhere on the Site, please let us know; we’ll prioritize a fix and, in the meantime, provide the same information to you in another way.
10. If Something Isn’t Working
If a feature of the Site or the toolbar isn’t behaving as expected, a few quick steps often help: refresh the page; make sure your browser and assistive technology are updated; try the toolbar’s “Reset” control to clear conflicting settings; or try a different supported browser. If the problem continues, we want to hear about it — contact us using the details below and tell us what you were trying to do, and we’ll help you directly and use it to improve the Site.
11. Our Ongoing Effort
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project. We periodically review the Site against WCAG 2.1 AA, keep our accessibility toolbar updated through our partnership with ADAWebPro, consider accessibility as we add new content and features, and treat user feedback as a priority input. As standards and technologies evolve, we evolve with them.
12. Third-Party Content
Some features on the Site rely on third-party services that we do not fully control, such as an embedded map or a financing partner’s tools. We choose accessibility-minded providers wherever possible, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content hosted by others. If a third-party element creates a barrier for you, contact us and we’ll provide the same information or service in an accessible way.
13. Alternative Formats & Accommodations
If you need information from this Site in a different format — for example large print, a document read aloud over the phone, content sent by email, or any other reasonable accommodation — we’re glad to provide it at no charge. Your ability to learn about and request our services should never depend on the format. Just reach out and tell us what works best for you.
14. Feedback & Contact
Your feedback genuinely helps us improve, and we welcome it. If you have difficulty using any part of this website, need assistance, or want to report an accessibility barrier, please contact us:

15. Legal Compliance
We strive to meet the spirit and intent of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and applicable Oregon accessibility requirements, using WCAG 2.1 AA as our guiding standard. This statement reflects our good-faith, ongoing effort to make our website accessible to all users; it is a description of our commitment and practices, not a warranty or a legal admission. We continually work to improve, and we appreciate your patience and partnership as we do.
